Sustainable development of geothermal energy in the urban environment (CCES GEOTHERM Module 5)

Aucune traduction française n'est disponible pour cette page.

Research program in progress involving GEOLEP (A. Parriaux, L. Tacher, J. Zigliani) and LENI (L. Gerber, F. Maréchal, D. Favrat) people

This module aims at developing a methodology to assess the integrated effects of utilising geothermal energy in an urban environment, incorporating geoscientific, engineering and city planning constraints. The new expert system aims at maximising the benefits from geothermal heat resources while minimizing environmental impacts and conflicts with other uses of the underground. The module will also explore possible synergies in the utilization of deep geothermal energy from EGSs with shallow
geothermal resources, particularly with regard to using shallow aquifers as a seasonal heat storage medium for excess heat derived from the EGS. The module will also produce a methodology and tool for identifying optimal use of geothermal energy in polygeneration systems for sustainable heating, cooling and electricity production.
